Question: What skills do I need to start a bed and breakfast business?
I’ve always wanted to run my own b&b and I’m now getting myself free of my personal debts, so I feel that now is the time to look into this a bit more seriously. We are planning to save for this investment anyway but we won’t be able to for a couple of years until our debt has gone. In the mean time though are there any courses etc that we should look into getting to make some sort of start with this? Also any other advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
Answer: basic accounting and bookeeping skills are a must, as are courses in management, hospitality, and food service. Some real estate and marketing savvy would be beneficial, as your success depends on your location and your ability to market your b & b to people.
