B2b Business Opportunities

B2B Business Opportunities

Why Should You Buy a B2B Business?

Buying an existing business is often a simpler and safer alternative to starting your own business. There are more financing opportunities available for the purchase of a B2B business compared to buying a business that only sells products or services to consumers.

Advantages

Time, money, and energy are required to startup or purchase any business. If you start with a new service, concept or an invention, you should be prepared to self-finance the business costs and your living costs for two or three years. When you purchase a B2B business, you can finance 80% to 100% of the purchase price with commercial financing.

Cash flow will start immediately with existing inventory, accounts receivables, an existing staff, business clients, and customer goodwill. You can finance your growth.

Disadvantages

The initial purchase price requires a cash down payment. Additional operating capital may be required during the transition period as you establish and implement your new business plan. Since the customer base, brands, and other fundamental work have already been done, the down payment may be substantial. The purchase price may be excessive. Inventory may be over-valued and accounts receivables that are valued at the time of purchase may turn out to be not collectable. Business brokers and consultants can help to avoid these problems.

Opportunities for Growth

You should determine your target company’s readiness to expand its operations locally, nationally or internationally and ascertain its ability to increase production of a particular product or service. You should systematically and objectively identify your target company’s strengths and weaknesses concerning these issues.

Financing Opportunities

When you purchase a B2B business with commercial financing, a Financing Statement (Form UCC1) is filed to perfect a security interest in named collateral, such as accounts receivable, inventory and equipment. The UCC1 establishes priority for the lender in case of your default or bankruptcy. It is a first lien on the business assets.

Many banks offer SBA 7(a) loans for Long Term Financing of:

• 51% or more Owner-Occupied Commercial Real Estate Purchasing & Refinancing

• Construction or Improvements

• Debt Refinancing

• Working Capital

• Equipment Financing

• Purchasing a Business

• Partnership Buyout

The SBA 7(a) loans provide for fully amortized maturities up to 25 years. Through their partnership with the SBA, banks can provide up to 90% financing for the purchase of Commercial Real Estate and up to 90% financing for debt to finance the purchase of a business. A UCC1 is required as a first lien on the transaction.

Many commercial finance companies offer accounts receivable financing, inventory financing and equipment financing to help B2B businesses grow. A UCC1 is required as a first lien on the transaction.

Both types of financing are available with proper structuring and negotiation if you purchase a B2B business. The SBA 7A loan may be obtained to purchase a B2B business with a carve-out for the commercial finance company to have a UCC1 lien on their portion of the financing. With financing for growth combined with financing for the purchase of the business the opportunities for success of your business increase. The advantages are: you can market for new business; accelerate cash flow to meet payroll, supplier and tax obligations; and have the opportunity to negotiate larger contracts for your products and services. If you purchase a B2B business without the carve-out, you may have closed the door to financing for future growth.

Question: i’m a stay at home mom.i need extra money. no start up costs, credit card, business, just work and get paid

where on the net do you work and get paid. no home business, no start up costs, no credit card needed. Project payday didn’t work out. i need an extra 250.00 a month. How can i earn this without signing up someplace and jumping threw hoops just to work and get pay?

Answer: I dont really these magical sites exist. There are many ways you can be a stay at home mom and get paid, its just that most moms arent willing to do it. Ive been a SAHM for 3 years and I havent found anything. Popular options are babysitting other children or opening a full day care center, which i would never do, but my friend makes a ton of money from it. You could also make and sell things if you are crafty, or you could try to sell Avon. There are also customer service reps who work from home but im unsure what company they work for. Ive been a CSR in a call center and i know the last place i could do that job is with a 2 year old screaming in the background and trying to climb on me. My daughter just started preschool so its off to work i go now!

Answer: Hey budding entrepreneur,

Just one thing that you need to know.

People are willing to pay for your services depending on the value you create for them. Let's say if you shuffle enevelopes at home, what is the value you are creating? You are helping the companies to send out their materials or communication to their intended receipients. And how much will this worth to the company? They are willing to pay for that money.

So create value and you can literally do anything.

My personal advice will be:
Book-keeping
Private-tutoring
Paper work such as filling envelopes
Party organiser
Domestic services

P.S. I started out working for myself since 17 and life rocks when you are self-employed ....Cheers

Startup Costs Balance Sheet

Purchasing a sample or template for your day spa business plan can be extremely valuable, but only if there is a well-done and customizable financial model spreadsheet that comes with it. To know if the financial model you’re working with makes the cut, look for the following elements.

Multiple Revenue Streams

As the years go by, you may expect to move customer from one service to another (for example, increasingly sell massages, while at first customers only purchased facial treatments). To do this, the financial model must let you play with multiple revenue streams by letting you choose as many as possible and alter the sales mix between them over time.

Automated Financial Statements

The financial statements themselves require some accounting knowledge to put together, and the model should not require you to create them from scratch or even have to adjust them much at all. A well-made financial model will let you make adjustments on worksheets about your assumptions of costs, revenues, and debt and equity you will raise, and then populate the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement automatically. For a model to be robust it must allow for a change made in one place to automatically effect all the other sheets and statements.

Startup Costs

The model should give you the opportunity to lay out the startup costs you have identified, such as for your furniture, booths, sinks, supplies, inventory, and improvements to the location itself (leasehold improvements). The model should know which costs are depreciated over time and which must be expensed at the time they are incurred, so that you don’t have to learn this on your own or set up your own depreciation schedule.

Debt or Equity
Finally, the model should let you choose whether you will fund your day spa through debt (loans) or equity (stockholder investment). It should allow you to choose interest rates, a repayment schedule, and use a combination of both debt and equity if you choose. This should serve the purposes of most day spa entrepreneurs without complicated customization.

Question: What are average dine-in/carry out restaurant startup costs?

What are the average startup up costs for a small dine in carry out restaurants? A place that seats about 12-20 people and is based mostly for carry out. Like those Chinese food take out places.

A new business usually needs some startup capital. But, it is hard to prove to anyone that your business is going to be successful if you do not have a track record to show. Many people feel like it is easy to start working from home without a business plan but then they run into the problem of what to do when they need money for the business. All you have in the beginning stage of your business are your credentials and your business plan. So, where can you get some more money to start your new business?

(Where can I get money for a new business)

Where to Find the Money You Need

There are several sources to consider when looking for financing for your work at home business or small business. It is important to explore all of your options before making a decision.

Personal savings:

The primary source of capital for most new, work at home businesses comes from savings and other forms of personal resources. While credit cards are often used to finance business needs, there may be better options available, even for very small loans.

Friends and relatives:

Many entrepreneurs look to private sources such as friends and family when starting out in a business venture. Often, money is loaned interest free or at a low interest rate, which can be beneficial when getting started.

Banks and credit unions:

The most common source of funding, banks and credit unions, will provide a loan if you can show that your business proposal is sound.

Venture capital firms:

These firms help expanding companies grow in exchange for equity or partial ownership

Startup Costs For Pizza Hut

Franchisee = Entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is not just someone that has turned a new idea into a business. An entrepreneur can also refer to a franchisee, “an individual who purchases the rights to use a company’s trademarked name and business model to do business” (http://franchises.about.com/od/franchiseglossary/g/franchisee.htm). Although a franchise may require quite a bit more capital than starting a business from scratch, the rate of return is generally higher and occurs much quicker.

There are several reasons to buy a franchise:

1 out of every 12 retail stores is a franchise.

The cumbersome process of creating a business plan, marketing plan, and financial plan has already been done by experts in the industry.

The purchase is all inclusive; the infrastructure, the customers, suppliers, employees, equipment, and systems as well.

May receive good insight and advice from previous owners.

Lenders are more likely to finance a business with a proven track record.

Profitability is not in question as it would be in a startup.

There are drawbacks to becoming a franchisee as well:

Extremely high start-up costs.

Most franchisees must make royalty payments to the franchisor each month based on a percentage of sales.

Many franchisees are obligated to make regular contributions to the franchisor’s advertising fund.

Most franchisors impose price, appearance, and design standards, limiting control over how the franchise is operated.

The franchisor has the right to terminate your agreement if the franchises standard operating procedure is violated in any way.

Cost

The two costs that are the most surprising to the prospective franchisee are the Franchise Fee and the Royalty Payment. The Franchise Fee is the one time and often non-refundable start-up fee. This will most likely be the highest of any fee you will pay and can range from $500.00 to well over $1million. The second major cost, the Royalty Payment, is a recurring fee that is a percentage of your gross monthly sales. Most of the larger well known franchises have monthly minimums for this fee that can impair profitability during slow seasons.

How do you select the type of franchise to buy?

Know your financial capability. Know the franchises capital requirement.

What do you like to do? Match the franchise category with what you love.

Speak to a franchise representative. They are the first point of contact for all inquiries and can answer any question a potential franchisee will have.

Once you have all questions answered and have narrowed down the franchise(s) you are interested in, you will complete a formal franchise application including a credit and background check. Once you are cleared to move forward, by law the franchisor is required to send you a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). The FDD will include information on the franchise that will assist in your decision making process such as: history of franchise and its key management, financial statements, litigation, franchise openings/closings/terminations, franchisee contacts, franchise agreement, requirements, and more.
Here are some well known franchises available for purchase that have made Entrepreneurs Top 10 list for 2009:

Stratus Building Solutions
8. Jazzercise Inc.
9. Vanguard Cleaning Systems
10. RE/MAX Int’l. Inc.

1. Jan-Pro Franchising Int’l. Inc.
2. Subway
3. Instant Tax Service
4. Stratus Building Solutions
5. Snap Fitness Inc.
6. Dunkin’ Donuts
7. Jazzercise Inc.
8. Bonus Building Care
9. Anytime Fitness
10. Vanguard Cleaning Systems

If you are concerned about the franchise fee, royalty fee and initial investment, here are a few examples of some well-known franchises:

Subway:

Total investment: $78.6K-238.3K

Franchise fee: $15K

Ongoing royalty fee: 8%

McDonalds:

Total investment: $950.2K-1.8M

Franchise fee: $45K

Ongoing royalty fee: 12.5%+

Liberty Tax:

Total investment: $56.8K-69.9K

Franchise fee: $40K

Ongoing royalty fee: Varies

If you can imagine purchasing the rights to a well known company’s name, getting access to expert training, experiencing a proven revenue stream and unwavering brand recognition then the decision boils down to three simple questions; Do you have the capital? Do you want access to a proven business model? Are you willing to give up significant control in how you do business? If you’ve answered yes to all three, it’s time to seriously look into becoming a franchisee.

Definition of Debt Financing

Beside equity financing, a small or work at home business can raise money with debt financing. There are many sources for debt financing but the most common sources of debt financing are:

banks,

savings and loans,

commercial finance companies, and

the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)

Governmental Help for Small and Work at Home Businesses

State and local governments have developed many programs in recent years to encourage the growth of small businesses including work at home businesses in recognition of their positive effects on the economy.

Borrowing from Friends, Family Members, etc

Family members, friends, and former associates are all potential sources, especially when capital requirements are smaller. However, in this economy, a lot of people want to start a business and make money from home but few people have money to start or know of people whom they can borrow money from.

Borrowing from Banks

Traditionally, banks have been the major source of small business funding. Their principal role has been as a short-term lender offering:

demand loans,

seasonal lines of credit, and

single-purpose loans for machinery and equipment.

Banks generally have been reluctant to offer long-term loans to small firms. Whenever they make a loan to a business owner, in addition to equity considerations, they usually require the borrower’s personal guarantees in case of default. This ensures that the borrower has a sufficient personal interest at stake to give paramount attention to the business. For most borrowers this is a burden, but also a necessity.

How can the SBA help?

The SBA or Small Business Administration guaranteed lending program encourages banks and non-bank lenders to make long-term loans to small firms by reducing their risk and leveraging the funds they have available. The SBA’s programs have been an integral part of the success stories of thousands of firms nationally.

When you are thinking about starting a business, working from home, you need to figure out upfront how much you are going to need to start that business. To calculate the startup cost for a business is to estimate the initial costs of running your business for at least the first several months.

Is there a formula for calculating the startup cost of a business?

Unfortunately, every business is different, and every business has its own specific cash needs at different stages of development. While there is no universal method for estimating your startup costs, there are rules that you can follow so that that task of calculating the startup cost of your business will be easier.

Starting Small to lower the starup cost

Some businesses can be started on a shoestring budget with no money down. However, these businesses tend to be smaller businesses. The good news is that when most people start working from home, they usually start small so they will not need a lot of money upfront to start working and making some cash.

However, there are many businesses that require considerable investment upfront such as for inventory or equipment. It is very important to know that you will have enough money to start your business before you start it.

How to Determine the Startup Cost of a Business

Below is a simple process you can use to calculate the startup cost for your work at home business.

1) Identify all expenses (both one time, and on-going)

To determine your startup costs, you must identify all the expenses that your business will incur during its startup phase. Some of these expenses will be one-time costs such as:

the fee for incorporating your business or

the price of a sign for your building.

Some expenses will be ongoing, such as

the cost of utilities,

inventory,

insurance, etc.

2) Decide if each expense is essential or optional

While identifying these costs, decide whether they are essential or optional. A realistic startup budget should only include those things that are necessary to start that business. This is the step that many business owners have problems with. You can go down the list of all the business expenses and mark each entry as either essential or optional. Then, see if you can throw away all the optional expenses.

3) Divide essential expenses into fixed and variable expenses

These essential expenses can then be divided into two separate categories: fixed and variable.

Fixed expenses include

rent,

utilities,

administrative costs, and

insurance costs.

Variable expenses include

inventory,

shipping and packaging costs,

sales commissions, and

other costs associated with the direct sale of a product or service.

The most effective way to calculate your startup costs is to use a worksheet that lists all the various categories of costs (both one-time and ongoing) that you will need to estimate prior to starting your business.

Startup Costs Calculator

Blue Ocean Strategy allows innovative startups to identify uncontested market spaces and render their competition irrelevant.

The principle behind Blue Ocean Strategy is that all markets can be divided into red oceans and blue oceans.

Red oceans are characterized by consensus – a consensus as to who the customer is, who the vendors are, and what the product being sold is.

Consequently, in such a market, selling to the same customers, buying from the same suppliers, making the same thing, there is intense competition and thinner and thinner profit margins.

Seek Uncontested Market Space

Blue Ocean Strategy seeks to escape that. Blue Ocean Strategy seeks to direct ventures towards uncontested market space. Market niches where ventures are positioned so uniquely that competition is rendered irrelevant.

But how? How are these market niches to be recognized?

Value Innovation

To do that requires “Value Innovation.” Value innovation is recognizing the values and desires behind the spending choices people make, and then restructuring enterprise resources to provide a superior alternative that is still consistent with those values.

For example, when the theatrical circus, Cirque Du Soleil, began the circus industry was moribund. Rather than just putting together another circus, the founders of Cirque Du Soleil tried to understand the overall value system of people who go out for the evening.

Why do they choose the theater or the movies, as opposed to the circus?

The founders of Cirque Du Soleil found that people viewed the circus as low-brow, juvenile, even crude. The traditional three rings of the circus were a distraction, even annoying.

Also, they were increasingly uncomfortable with the use of animals – more sensitive to the possible abuse behind the entertainment.

Eliminate Elements Which People Do Not Value

So in putting together Cirque Du Soleil, the founders eliminated the three rings, presented the entertainment within a more sophisticated theatrical narrative, and got rid of the animals.

By combining the most valued elements of the theater and the circus, and eliminating the negatives of both, the founders of Cirque Du Soleil were able to create a superior alternative. An alternative which neither circus nor theater can directly contend with.

Identify Untapped Demand

Understanding noncustomers and underutilized customers often releases untapped demand. Often, obstacles to purchase can be easily removed.

In Asia, shopping malls and large department stores have recognized that although woman constitute an enormous revenue source, there is still enormous unused demand.

Women spend a certain portion of their time with men. And men hate to shop.

To address this, many establishments have built “husband rooms” – rooms with video games, TV, and alcohol, where women can drop off their husbands and boyfriends while they shop.

Given the necessity of identifying uncontested market spaces – where competitors are rendered irrelevant – we see that in order to do this, we must pursue value innovation – recognizing the value system behinds people’s market choices structuring enterprise resources into a superior, innovative alternative.

But how? What metric do we use to build these superior, innovations?

Blue Ocean Strategy gives us this metric.

This metric lets us recognize how other enterprises are positioned, and to identify overlooked niches.

Position Yourself Along the Emotional-Commodity Axis

For example, products are generally seen as either having an emotional appeal or of being merely commodities. By shifting a product’s position along this emotional-commodity metric, we often find the uncontested market space we’re looking for.

As an example, investment advise has traditionally had a heavy emotional element, heavily based on a personal relationship and trust between the client and the broker. However, enterprises like Charles Schwab and Vanguard Mutual funds, by shifting their offerings more towards the commodity end – offering low-cost, no-frills service – have acquired a huge customer base, people uninterested in the traditional niceties of investment management companies.

Focus on Buyers, Users, or Influencers

Another metric is customer type. Customers can be divided into buyers, users, and influencers. By switching focus from one customer type to another, competitors can often be completely outflanked.

When the financial information vendor, Bloomberg, started, most financial information systems providers focused on buyers. These buyers – purchasing agents in IT departments – tended to value low price and standardized easily maintained machines.

Bloomberg, however, recognized that the users – the traders – were people with high disposable income but little time.

He added features to allow them to do online shopping during downtime on the trading floor. He also added features for easy financial calculations – features most IT purchasing agents were oblivious to.

Think in Terms of Product Line Rather Than Product

A corollary of Blue Ocean Strategy is to improve marketing efficiency and drastically reduce cost structure by thinking in terms of product line rather than product.

Doing so, marketing efforts are not wasted because of the failure of a particular offering.

For example, when Fred Weiss started his web site AllMath.com, a site devoted to math puzzles and exorcises, he met with limited success. He went on to start AllWords.com, which also had limited success. However, he struck it big when he started AllLottery.com, a provider of nationwide lottery data, partially due to the branding of the word “All.”

Another example is Black and Decker, the power tool company. Faced with increasing competition and unable to anticipate whether the market would demand electric drills or electric hammers etc. from year to year, they instead built a “meta” tool. A power tool platform which could easily be extended as an electric hammer or electric drill or any one of their tool line.

This meta-product approach, with its standardized parts and flexibility, gave Black and Decker a cost structure far superior to their competitors.

Support your Local Businesses and Earn Money with TrustedPlaces
6th of March, 2009 – For immediate release.
TrustedPlaces, (London), the UK local reviews community, has just released the successful site’s latest version. The enhanced website is launching with a new, credit-crunch busting feature, which aims to help local businesses and TrustedPlaces users alike.
The TrustedPlaces offer:
• Users can refer a local business to TrustedPlaces and earn a cool £50 in the process.
• A referred business that signs up for a premium account, which costs £199 per year, gets £40 of free advertising on the site.
The referrals programme is set to further accelerate the sign-up of businesses, which currently number just under 2000. Premium members include some big names of the hospitality industry, such as Galvin at Windows and the Glendola Group, but also a host of independent small businesses that range from family run restaurants, pubs, gyms, spas and much more.
The startup has been on a roll recently, growing tenfold in 2008 and is currently reaching 920,000 users a month. The growth is even more impressive considering the marketing budget for TrustedPlaces, which is zero.
Apart from local referrals the website upgrade (designed by caffeinehit.com) employs a fresher design and a new way for people to share local tips by posting short messages on the site, very much like Twitter.com, which has been grabbing headlines recently. Sokratis Papafloratos, TrustedPlaces co-founder and CEO, had this to say: ‘Our main ambition with TrustedPlaces is to celebrate, support and recommend the best local businesses in the UK. With this latest release we improve the TrustedPlaces user experience and help local owners and managements promote their businesses during this difficult period.’
About TrustedPlaces
TrustedPlaces is a community website where people share and discover recommendations on local businesses, such as restaurants, bars, pubs and much more. The company was founded by Sokratis Papafloratos and Walid Al Saqqaf and has now become one of the leading local information resources in the UK. In 2007 the startup received funding from HOWZAT Media, the fund setup by dotcom veterans Hugo Burge and David Soskin.
Contact
Sokratis Papafloratos, CEO&Co-Founder, TrustedPlaces: Sokratis@trustedplaces.com, +447717307032

Answer: I cannot think of any country. Bulgaria (as mentioned in the 2nd answer) is not an option with 1200 USD/year. It's a very good country with rather low costs, but even the minimum wage is higher and you would not get a residence permit with only 1200 USD a year. But.... when do you plan to retire? You could buy some land or apartment in Bulgaria, the prices are going up about 15-18 percent per year, you could rent out the apartment too, thus making your money grow. Over time you would a) have an apartment, b) have an income c)have enough credentials for a residence permit. You could consider to put the real estate in a company in your name (Ltd. comparable with an Inc.). After only a few years (3-5) you could already be in the clear. Questions: message me.
