Question: How would I go about working in the field of forensics or for a medical examiner?
I am a medical transcriptionist and I love forensics. I would love to work with someone like Dayle Hinman, Body of Evidence or just work for a medical examiner. I presently work at home now and do psychiatric and rehabilitation transcription. I have looked everywhere and cannot find the hookup for doing autopsies here in Michigan. I have an associates degree in medical transcription. Does anyone have any suggestions to make my dreams come true.
Answer: Some companies do autopsy reports in their pools either at home or in office. Your best bet is to call hospitals in your area and/or look for medical examiners in your area and see if they are hiring transcriptionists. www.MTJobs.com may also have some listings.
To the person above, you don't need to be a doctor to type autopsy reports. She wants to TYPE them, not perform them.
