Question: Good Business Plan Idea? Need Advice And Opinons!?

I’ve been unemployed for over 2 months and where I live there is no hope in getting a job until after Christmas…my town is small and basically shuts down by mid-November and I’ve handed out over 30 resumes but got turned down on EVERY SINGLE ONE :( I do babysit often and do odd jobs for people but it’s far and few between and makes little to no money.

Anyways, I’ve been trying to think of ways I could be self-employed and came up with a plan.

If I sold home-made Quilts, pillows, Baby Nursery Sets, personalized items, etc. (I’m excellent at sewing) and sold them on-line (on Ebay or something), could that be viable way to bring in income. I would list several patterns for everything so people can choose from them, and everything would be up to them. I know there will be extra expenses like shipping, etc. and it won’t bring in steady profit, but what does everyone think about that? What items would you like to see for sale/buy? I need ideas…

Thanks everyone! :)

Answer: Wow! that’s a good business idea. And the fact that you’re excellent at sewing. You can do a lot with that and make instant money easily.

The best choice of site where you can start your business is in Etsy. You can sell your homemade Quilts and anything handmade at Etsy. Though there are some fees that you will have to pay in posting but its minimal compared to ebay. You could easily start and make a store there. I would suggest to make your handmade products unique and of course in excellent quality. take a photo of your items and upload it in etsy. Don’t forget to advertise and join any forums related to your product line.

Here’s what you can do for your business plan (May vary):
1. State Your Objectives.
2. Describe the Business
3. Describe Your Products or Services.
4. Identify Your Potential Market
5. Identify Your Competitors
6. Consider Your Pricing Policy
7. Determine Your Marketing Methods
8. Determine Your Key Personnel- including you
9. Identify Your Material Requirements and Sources of Supply
10. Determine the Process and Equipment You Will Use to manufacture Your Product
11. Prepare a Sales Forecast
12. Prepare a Budget
13. Set Your Plan to Work

Question: Could I buy a legitimate prepackaged online home small business complete with a website, business plan, etc?

I don’t have any experience relevant to operating a small business, and if possible I wish to avoid building one from scratch. Are there any websites which offer a variety of packages o this nature?

Answer: Wow, no having to work at anything, hey? Hopefully at a business that comes with preapproved customers too?

Your best bet is to get an issue of Entrepreneur magazine and go through the entire thing, then check out the other business magazines at Barnes & Noble. They have the beginnings of these, but it really depends on what field of merchandise you’re interested in.

Question: How can I establish business credit separate from personal?

I have my own business and it has been around for over 4 years. My business has excellent credit including 3 credit cards and multiple vendors that I buy equipment and hardware from. I am going through a debt consolidation/reduction plan right now and have charged off 3 credit cards and paid a reduced amount as a settlement so basically my personal credit isn’t in great shape.

Citibank recently cut my credit limit on a BUSINESS credit card from $15,000 down to $2000 stating that they reviewed my personal credit and based on their review they lowered the limit on my BUSINESS credit card. How is this possible for them to base my business credit on a personal credit review?

I was in the middle of a business trip and was unable to pay for the rest of my meals and hotel because I only carry one credit card since it had a more than adequate limit. Needless to say it was a mess to scramble to find money to pay for food and expenses the last week of the trip.

Answer: First thing is you need a DUNS number, which is a credit account for your business. When you set up an account with them you would be asked to list your vendors with which you have payment terms. The DUNS organization will then contact them to verify your information.

The One Thing That A Home Business Entrepreneur Has To Get Right

Moving from an employee to a home based entrepreneur presents a unique set of advantages and challenges. One of the challenges is learning how to manage your time so that you are spending the majority of it on money making activities. When I first got started in my home business, I was struck by the wealth of information and services available for home business training. My company provided more information and entrepreneurial training than I could absorb and implement. What I soon noticed was that it can be very easy to become a home business training junkie instead of a home business builder. Do you know the difference? Not learning the distinction will cost you a fortune.

From my experience, the purpose of home business training and education is not knowledge. It’s action. What good is learning if you do not apply what you have learned to get the desired result?

The secret to home business success? There is no secret anymore. Those who have been successful are usually very open about how they did it. Why? First, they understand that there is enough money and opportunity for everyone to prosper. Second, they know that 9 out of 10 people they train will not apply what they have learned and therefore will never be a threat of any kind.

When you are getting started in a new business, it is exciting. It can also be a little bit overwhelming once you figure out how much there is to learn. It seems like there is a lot to remember. Many new home business entrepreneurs react to this by finding ways to stay busy without doing anything productive to move their business forward. Doing “research” is a common way to stay busy without moving your business forward at all. Researching advertising, researching prospecting, researching team building, etc. At the end of the day, you haven’t done anything to potentially put money in your pocket.

There are countless ways to advertise, prospect and network. Some things will work for you and some won’t be a fit. You have to evaluate whether or not it fits in your schedule, budget, etc. To be successful, you will absolutely need to learn a new skill set and some of the activities you spend your time on absolutely should give you butterflies in your stomach. Butterflies in your stomach let you know that you are moving outside your comfort zone and stretching yourself as an entrepreneur and person. Examine your daily activities. If you are never uncomfortable in your business activities, there is a good chance that you not having much luck moving it forward.

It’s simple to determine if what you are doing is home business building or home business training. When the day is done, what did you do move your business forward (i.e. did you sharpen all the pencils on your desk and rearrange your office or did you speak to five prospect/customers about your product?).

Examples of staying busy: arranging your desk, ordering business cards, researching advertising possibilities that you do not immediately implement. Training should be a cornerstone of your business, but not to the exclusion of the things that bring in income. Training and education is critical, but only when you couple it with money making activities.

Examples of taking action: Placing advertisments, speaking to leads or customers, providing support for others in your enterprise.

If you are spending a lot of time on your business with little income to show for it, this is a great exercise to pinpoint the problem.

It comes down to this – It is a great deal easier (and more comfortable) to train than to take action. If you are always comfortable in your business, you are most likely not moving yourself forward.

Never forget that you learn so that you can take action. Here’s how you do that. Learn something, then immediately apply it. Use what works and discard the rest. Repeat. Soon you will develop an arsenal of tools to help you become a successful home business owner.

Question: i’m a stay at home mom.i need extra money. no start up costs, credit card, business, just work and get paid

where on the net do you work and get paid. no home business, no start up costs, no credit card needed. Project payday didn’t work out. i need an extra 250.00 a month. How can i earn this without signing up someplace and jumping threw hoops just to work and get pay?

Answer: I dont really these magical sites exist. There are many ways you can be a stay at home mom and get paid, its just that most moms arent willing to do it. Ive been a SAHM for 3 years and I havent found anything. Popular options are babysitting other children or opening a full day care center, which i would never do, but my friend makes a ton of money from it. You could also make and sell things if you are crafty, or you could try to sell Avon. There are also customer service reps who work from home but im unsure what company they work for. Ive been a CSR in a call center and i know the last place i could do that job is with a 2 year old screaming in the background and trying to climb on me. My daughter just started preschool so its off to work i go now!
