Question: what are some creative business ideas for stay at home moms?
I am very creative and am right now stuck in an unfulfilling yet cushy government job. I have two kids and desperately want to be home with them. I am very crafty, I sew clothing for my self, kids and friends. I sewed all of my own maternity wear because I refused to wear what was being offered. I also sew drapery, bedding and baby accessories. I also do some paintings for my childrens rooms that I’ve gotten some interest in. My name gets around town and I get work here and there but I fear giving up my cushy job since I’m not sure exactly what direction to go in. I need ideas for what to do with my talents or if it is even worth it.
Answer: As a stay at home mom who sew's for extra money I tend to push people in that direction who want to make extra money too.

Depending on the time you have, you might consider:
Craft Shows
Consignment in a local store
EBay
Starting a website
Contacting local businesses - IE day cares in your area and ask them if you can put some flyer's in their lobby for free.
Donut Shop- I know it sounds crazy but every donut shop I have been in has a bulletin board for local businesses.
Depending on the zoning in your area- put a sign up in your yard that you do sewing and murals ( we are not allowed to do that in our area and its a big fine if you do, so check first)Its really hard quiting your job to go out on your own. I worked for a large company as a corporate trainer before having the twins. Going back after was just not an option with the cost of daycare times 2 so I started selling on eBay.
I like eBay, its low risk - only the cost of a listing and you do not have to list any more items than you want to. When things are stressful at work or home you don't have to list any, but when you need extra money you can list a bunch.
